Lukofob - Silicone hydrophobizing agents

Characteristics

For many years the construction industry worked with porous silicate materials such as lime-cement plasters, concrete, sandstone, gas silicate, asbestos cement, burnt roofing, etc. The negative feature of these materials is their absorption of rain water, which in turn enhances the occurrence of dirt, the diminishing of thermal insulation, washing out of soluble parts, and the effect of acid rain, which leads to a reduction in the function and service life of porous silicates. These negative properties are eliminated by silicone hydrophobizing preparations manufactured under the production name: Lukofob.

These preparations are further classified as water-dilutable or solvent-based.

Effects of silicone hydrophobizing preparations

These preparations are applied by means of spraying, painting, or soaking at low concentrations. Their application is carried out on a dry surface that has not been heated by the sun. The application is not intended to create a film of the preparation on the surface, but to make the preparation become impregnated as much as possible. When water evaporates, hydrophobization takes place inside the pores. Subsequently, the looks of the original material, as well as its vapor permeability, remain unchanged. With regard to silicon-s enhanced resistance against climatic conditions, sunshine, and temperature, the hydrophobic finish is featured with a remarkable service life. Hydrophobized porous silicate materials are characterized with these qualities:

- Reduced dirt collection: Rain washes off the surface, not allowing the dust to become soaked in the base.

- The absorption capacity of the surface is not enhanced; and the material-s strength and service life are not reduced due to freezing during the winter season.

- Soluble parts are not washed away: Subsequently, the absorption capacity of the surface is not enhanced; and the material-s strength and service life are not reduced due to freezing during the winter season.

- The original thermal insulation is retained, especially that of brickwork silicate materials, since it is mainly during the fall season that perpendicularly oriented rainfall brings about the imbibition of the brickwork resulting in the impairment of thermal insulation.

Lukofob hydrophobizing agents soluble in water

Lukofob 39

- Yellow-brown clear liquid of a strong alkali reaction, without odor, whose miscibility with water is not limited. Its active component is sodium methyl silanolate.

Lukofob ELX

- Milk-white, low-viscose liquid, aqueous emulsion of methyl-silicone resin.

Lukofob EVO 50

- Milk-white low-viscous liquid, odourless, unlimited miscible with water. Considering its good resistance against alkaline environments it is suitable for the hydrophobization of fresh concrete. Active component is monomeric alkylsiloxane ester.

Silicone solvent-based hydrophobizing agents

Lukofob Klasik

- Solution of silicone resin in an organic, aromate-free solvents with reduced flammability.

Silikonové napouštědlo (Silicone soaking agent)

- hydrophobizing and polishing agent for the final treatment of tiles and paving by soaking.

Lukofob ME

- Yellowish to brownish, slightly turbid liquid, technical methytrietoxysilane with and admixture of oligomeric condensation products and ethanol. Hydrolysis takes place if in contact with water and direct humidity.
