By launching an environmental management system Lučební závody declare its responsible attitude to the environment. The company takes a proactive approach to the monitoring, management and gradual reduction of the impact of its activities on the environment. The introduction of the environmental management system is complete and the company holds a certificate according to ISO 14001:2004.

Based upon changes that were implemented in the company in recent years (reduced production of certain products, transition to a gas boiler-room, greater Synhydrid production) with an immense impact on the quality of the air, the company completed authorized emissions measurements to serve as a basis for a dispersion study and for an expert opinion in the field of air quality control. The processed data were positive not only for Lučební závody, but also for the City of Kolín and its citizens. All production technologies are, in great measure, well below statutory limits and were classified as minor air pollutants. The professional evaluation of the additive effects of emitted contaminants confirmed that the respective noxious agents do not exceed emission limits beyond the factory-s boundaries. That is to say that the contaminants - whose generation during chemical production and release into the air are inevitable - produce such low concentrations that they cannot markedly affect the quality of the atmosphere in Kolín. These positive results enabled the company to proceed to the pronounced minimization of the hygienic protection zone. 
 
The main objective in the field of waste management was to harmonize waste treatment with the newly amended, harsh, legal regulations. As a result, the company can be proud of its ecological waste storage, consistent waste sorting depending on their characteristic properties and methods of neutralization, or the possibility of their further processing. Waste liquidation is provided by a specialized firm which guarantees that the minimum negative environmental effects will be complied with. The company also launched a process which will be finalized by certification according to the EMS system (Environmental Management System). 

The ongoing policy accepted by Lučební závody is to diminish the volume of its discharged waste water and to reduce concentrations of emitted contaminants. The company installed a new automatic sampler to obtain representative samples and to ensure their objective analyses with the prospect of long-term monitoring of emitted pollutants into a recipient. The respective analyses are implemented by an accredited laboratory. However, these measures alone would not suffice to make certain that the quality of water will comply with the requirements defined by the state administration. This is why the company made the step toward resolving perhaps the last big ecological debt; i.e. a water treatment plant that was commissioned in the fall of 1999. 

The company sees it as its priority to be an active environmental co-creator. The fulfillment of this goal can be documented with the obvious positive effects of the reduction of contaminants that affect not only our health, but also the quality of our environs.
